What Did You Find When You Looked for Yourself? *
The mirror (and the farther lens of the camera)
record who I am not:
not merely the embarrassingly large nose,
not only the faded wish to be a man
that once loomed in a too-heavily-weighted left-brain,
constantly plotting, criticizing.
Yet when I look away----
just outside the window,
leaves nosing closely against the glass
unselfconsciously take in
what we breathe out.
